Berry College Announces Name for New Continuing Care Retirement Community
Selects The Spires at Berry College as a reflection of college founder’s vision of inspiration
ROME, GEORGIA (March 24, 2016) – Berry College has announced the new continuing care retirement community (CCRC), adjacent to the college’s nationally-recognized campus, will be named The Spires at Berry College. Opening in 2019, The Spires at Berry College will overlook 88-acre Eagle Lake, with unobstructed views of Lavender Mountain and is within a five-minute drive of the region’s highly regarded medical centers.
“Spires are an integral part of Berry’s history,” said Berry President Steve Briggs.” In the midst of their daily lives, Martha Berry wanted students to look up and aspire for more. Spires of all kinds are located across the Berry campus, from the pinnacles of the Ford complex to the cupolas of its barns. The spires complement the natural beauty of Berry’s hills and pine forests.”
With cultural and intellectual riches to mine, and 27,000 acres of wonder to explore, the Berry College campus encourages the spirit of discovery – the only guide necessary for residents to live their lives to the fullest.

Located on the undeveloped college land adjacent to the main campus, The Spires at Berry College will feature approximately 187 apartment homes and cottages, and offer a full compliment of healthcare and supportive services and amenities. Lakeside fine dining and a host of recreational and fitness opportunities unique to The Spires at Berry College will also be readily available, along with the security of lifelong health services.

Last month, the college christened its pristine 88-acre lake on the west side of campus “Eagle Lake,” referencing the bald eagles who make their home on the world’s largest campus. Eagle Lake will serve as the backdrop to The Spires at Berry College, and offers an abundant food source for the eagles and the multitude of other wildlife species that reside on what has been recognized as one of the “world’s most beautiful college campuses.”
